The Americans got the first goal, but were shut out for 2 periods as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Tri City Ams 5 to 1. The 'Hawks are no within 3 points of the Americans lead in the WHL US Division.  The Ams return home tonight to play the Seattle Thunderbirds.
