RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- Pete Carroll says the flurry of roster moves and massive shuffling of players just a week before Seattle's opener against San Francisco was something the Seahawks front office expected. The shuffling of Seattle's roster continued on Monday when the team formally released safety Jordan Babineaux, fullback Owen Schmitt and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson. The Seahawks brought in a half dozen new players over the weekend and sent away leading receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh along with a handful of other veterans. Carroll says Monday that general manager John Schneider viewed the opportunity with other teams making cuts in the same way as the Seahawks approached the April NFL draft. In a move that surprised many, veteran running back Julius Jones was not released by the team. The Seahawks leading rusher in 2009 practiced on Monday. Carroll announced Jones is expected to get some carries during Sunday's regular season opener against San Francisco, but Justin Forsett will start.
