MOSCOW - The wait is almost over for the Idaho Vandals, who will open the 2010 season at the Kibbie Dome on Thursday night against the Fighting Sioux of North Dakota.
North Dakota is a former Division II national champion, which now competes in the Football Championship Subdivision (former I-AA).
But Vandals head coach Robb Akey says there's no way Idaho will overlook the lower level opponent.
"We only get to play 14 games, you know. And that's 14 if we play 13 well enough to get the 14th game. You've got to take advantage of every game you get. And I promise you, this team coming in here, they're going to have their ears pinned back and they're going to want to get after our tail.
"It's the only game we get to play this week," Akey added. "I don't see how anything else could possibly matter."
Idaho is looking to build on last year's 8-5 season, which ended with a win in the Humanitarian Bowl.
