Alec Cutter scored a school record 24 goals this season. But the Ferris senior actually prefers to set his teammates up instead.
"This year has been a lot of goal scoring," said Cutter. "But I definitely like to get my teammates involved."
Cutter led the Saxons to a third place finish at the 4A state tournament by both scoring and passing, using his speed to blow by opponents.
"I mean, he's so fast, and he's so, his ability to turn on guys, get at guys, break them down, um, there's not many guys that can do that," said Saxons head coach Robin Crain.
The Greater Spokane League's player of the year wasn't able to play much at all his junior season, as injuries took their toll.
"My ankle and foot were basically hurt the entire season," said Cutter. "I only played about half the games. And when I did play, I was playing hurt the entire time."
That courage, along with his team-first mentality, has made him a great role model - practically a coach.
"He's a great team leader," said Crain. "I can leave practice and he could practically run practice for me. And that's tough, because kids are not really that mature. And once you get somebody like that, it's great."
Next year, Alec's off to Gonzaga to play for the Bulldogs. It was a fit the most prolific scorer in Saxons history says he couldn't pass up.
