Ching left off World Cup Team

Former Gonzaga Bulldog and member of the Spokane Shadow Brian Ching was one of seven players cut today to finalize team USA's roster for the 2010 World Cup.

Ching was a member of the 2006 World Cup team in Germany, but never played in a game during the tournament.

Ching suffered a hamstring injury April 1st, but has returned to action since.  It is believed that the injury played a part in Ching not making the team.

Team USA coach Bob Bradley had to cut the roster down from 30 to 23 today, and he admitted to the Houston Chronicle that it was a tough decision.

“Extremely hard with the respect that we all have for Brian as a person for the way he plays on the field and his commitment for the team,” Bradley said. “So it’s always hard when you make these types of decisions. But it’s particularly difficult when it’s a player who has contributed so much for the national team over the years.”

The Americans play England on June 12th in the World Cup opener.
