SPOKANE -- It was a busy day for area soccer teams on Saturday in Spokane. Ferris, Mead, and Pullman all registering wins, while Cheney and Central Valley came up short. In the 4a regionals, Ferris beat Walla Walla 1-0 in the early game at Joe Albi to advance to the state tournament. Mead doubled up Wenatchee in a battle of the Panthers in the late contest, 4-2. The Saxons will play Davis, while Mead gets Pasco in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday. Pasco advanced after knocking off Central Valley 2-0 in the Tri-Cities. The GNL held the finals of their district tournament on Saturday at Gonzaga Prep. The second seeded Pullman Greyhounds knocked off the top seeded Blackhawks 1-0 in a shootout.
