Jenn Rambo has played almost every position but catcher for the Gonzaga Prep softball team. But shortstop is where the two-time, first-team All-GSL pick is most comfortable.
"It's like my absolute favorite spot," said the senior. "I love talking on the field. And if you play shortstop, you kind of need to talk a lot."
The chatterbox middle infielder is also a vocal leader for the younger Bullpups.
"Her senior year, she's really stepped up," said Bullpups head coach James Pizelo. "Not just as a player, but as a leader. A lot of our success this year is contributed to her leadership and what she's been able to do off the field with the girls."
Rambo is closing in on the GSL batting title. But she also holds down a 3-point-6 GPA, despite playing on a select, traveling softball team in the fall and winter. Her success on that team caught the attention of the University of Arkansas, where she'll play for the Razorbacks next year.
"I took a couple of visits there and absolutely loved it. So they offered me a scholarship and I decided to go there," said Rambo.
Hopefully, we'll hear about her delivering on the diamond in the Southeastern Conference. But she doesn't plan to stop delivering after college.
"I want to go into nursing. I want to be a delivery nurse. I love babies, love little kids and so I've always been really interested in that."

The Gonzaga Prep softball team is trying to hang on to fourth place in the Greater Spokane League. And they're there, thanks in large part, to senior shortstop Jenn Rambo, who's the Bullpups' leader both on the field and off.
