YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- Tamara Jones scored a game-high 25 points as seventh-ranked Prosser toppled previously unbeaten West Valley of Spokane 55-41 on Friday in the Class 2A girls state semifinals.
The win sends Prosser (21-3) into Saturday's championship game against River Ridge (25-1). West Valley (24-1) will face Burlington-Edison (22-4) for third place.
Last year, Prosser fell to Archbishop Murphy in the semifinals, then lost to West Valley in the third-sixth game 63-49.
But the Mustangs came out hot Friday, scoring the game's first four points and led the entire way. West Valley trailed 37-31 after three quarters, but Prosser opened the fourth with a 9-4 run then slowly pulled away.
Jones hit 9 of 15 shots and made 7 of 8 free-throw attempts. Tayshia Hunt chipped in 11 points for the Mustangs.
Shanique Nilles scored 23 points for the Eagles, including 16 in the second half.
