MOSCOW - Idaho Head Football Coach Robb Akey has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the Vandals through the 2014 season, KXLY confirmed Friday afternoon.
Akey had been in negotiations with the University for several months. However, the extension won't become official until after it's approved by the Idaho State Board of Education, which isn't expected to happen until April.
In his third season at Idaho, Akey led the Vandals to an 8-5 record and a Humanitarian Bowl victory.
He had been one of the lowest paid head coaches in the country.
