SPOKANE -- The Washington State men's basketball team saw their season came to an end on Wednesday night with their 82-80 loss in overtime to the Oregon Ducks in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament. But is it really over?
After the game, Cougs head coach Ken Bone said the school and the College Basketball Invitational had been in touch with one another about a possible bid to the post-season tournament. Bone said it would most likely have to be a road game in the first round because Washington State would be on Spring Break, so the students wouldn't be there to attend a home game.
However, KXLY has learned from a source close to the school on Thursday that the Cougs would more than likely not play in the C-B-I, meaning their season would be over. No official statement has been announced, and the University has told KXLY no decision, either way, has been made. Bids to the tournament would not be awarded until Sunday night, 3/14.
