SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Lucas Peterson scored a game-high 28 points as Bear Creek beat Colfax 63-33 for fifth-place in the Class 2B boys state tournament Saturday.
Bear Creek controlled the game from the opening tip. The Grizzlies did not allow a first quarter basket until 17 seconds remained.
Bear Creek's zone defense helped them to a 29-11 lead at halftime. The third quarter wasn't any easier for Colfax, as they scored just five points.
Ryan Strandin had 16 points, 17 rebounds and Jamie Meyer added 13 points for Bear Creek (22-2). The Grizzlies made 49 percent of their shots.
Colfax (16-8) was led by Tanner Gay with 11 points. The Bulldogs were outrebounded 40-30 and made just 12 of 52 shots.
