KELOWNA, B.C. -- The Spokane Chiefs were playing catch-up all night in Kelowna. In the end, the Rockets had a little too much, beating the Chiefs 3-2 in a shootout. After a scoreless first 20 minutes, the home team got on the board just 33 seconds into second period when Evan Bloodoff beat James Reid for only his second goal of the season. The Chiefs answered 13 minutes later. The Rockets were on the power play, but Mitch Wahl found Spokane native Tyler Johnson for his 32nd goal of the year, tying it up at one. That's how things stayed into the third when the Rockets took the lead again, this time on a short-handed goal of their own. Spokane tied it at two when Brenden Kichton found net 10:52 in. The goal was his fourth of the season. It would stay tied at two through the rest of the third period and overtime. Kelowna scored on it's first two attempts of the shootout, while the Chiefs were shutout, sealing the win for the Rockets. Spokane tries to get back on track Friday night at Portland. The puck drops at 7:30pm.
