Former Tri-City Americans coach Don Nachbaur has been introduced as the new head coach of the Spokane Chiefs.
In six years in Tri-Cities, Nachbaur won 229 games and led the Ams to two U.S. division championships.
Nachbaur left the Americans following the 2008-09 season and spent last year coaching the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League.
"You know Ive been in hockey a long time, I do the best I can, I think every player does the best they can with the team they're with," said Nachbaur. I don't coach the Tri-City Americans, I coach the Spokane chiefs and that's all i'm worried about."
"Just the fact that he has had success there as a coach and was an accomplished guy its probably not going to hurt the rivalry one bit," said Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz.
