SPOKANE - Texas Rangers 2010 first-round draft pick center fielder Jake Skole hit his first professional home run Monday in a 5-1 Indians victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils.
Skole, the 15th pick in this year's draft, went 2 for 4 including a three run blast that traveled into The Depot. Skole is the eighth Indian to hit a home run this season.
Starting pitcher Nicholas McBride pitched a six inning masterpiece, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out nine hitters. He was perfect through the first four innings until Tri-City designated hitter Bryce Massanari drove a slow moving single through the middle infield. Massanari later scored on center fielder Chadler Laurent sacrifice fly. Relief pitcher Kevin Johnson came in to pick up the win throwing two scoreless innings.
The Indians added another run in the eighth inning off an RBI double by third baseman Kevin Rodland to make it 5-1.
Tri-City's Ricky Testa takes the loss, after giving up four earned runs in an inning and a third.
The NWL East division champion Indians finish the first half of the season with a 22-16 record. The Dust Devils wrap up the first half at 17-21.
The Indians are off tomorrow before starting a five game series with the
Eugene Emeralds in Eugene.
