SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock stepped outside Tuesday and soaked up a little sun, holding practice outdoors on the field turf at Gonzaga Prep.
And after practicing on the hard turf at the Shock's practice facility all season, the softer surface and the chance to get outside were welcomed by the players.
"Definitely, man. Good on our bodies. You know, the sun, just feeling good. Having a nice breeze," said Shock wide receiver Huey Whittaker. "You know, it was a good time, a good day, everybody was feeling good. And glad we actually had a chance to come outside for once, for a change."
Head coach Rob Keefe said in addition to alleviating stress on the players' joints, practicing outside is essentially a reward for their hard work.
"We want to have fun," said Shock head coach Rob Keefe. "Sometimes when the game you play becomes a job, it becomes real monotonous. If you can change the environment in a positive manner, it's good."
Spokane (12-2) will host the Chicago Rush (10-5) on Friday night at 5:00pm in the NFL Network's Game of the Week.
