PRINCETON, N.J. - Gonzaga, defending national champion Duke, Kansas State and Marquette will host Regional Round games of the 2010 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic, organizers of the event announced Thursday.
Each institution will host two Regional Round games before heading to Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., for the Championship Rounds on Nov. 22-23. Gonzaga will host IUPUI Nov. 14 and San Diego State University Nov. 16 in the McCarthey Athletic Center. Game times and television details will be announced later.
Gonzaga and IUPUI will be meeting for the first time. The Jaguars went 25-11 last season, advancing to the title game of the Summit League tournament and the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational.
The Bulldogs and Aztecs have met just once previously on the hardwood, the Bulldogs taking a 72-69 win Dec. 19, 1959, in the consolation game of the City of Roses Tournament in Portland, Ore. SDSU
posted a 25-9 record and won the Mountain West Conference Tournament last season to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. San Diego State is ranked 23rd in Dick Vitale's preseason Top 40 poll (ESPN).
The Bulldogs ended the season ranked 22nd in the Associated Press 23rd in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 polls last season. Gonzaga, 27-7 overall, won their 10th straight West Coast Conference regular-season title and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament with their 12th straight trip to March Madness. Gonzaga has won 20 or more games 13 straight seasons and 16 times in the last 17 years. Andy Katz ranks the Bulldogs ninth in his preseason Top 25 and Vitale ranks them 15th in his Top 40.
