The Eastern Washington Women’s basketball team is off to its best conference start in school history with a seven game, seven win streak.

For the first time in a long time, the Eastern women can’t seem to lose.

“I joke around with my teammates that I celebrate every win like we jut won the national championship because it feels so good just to win,” Big Sky Player of the Week Kayla Evans said.

After four straight losing seasons, experience and depth have the Eagles at the top of the Big Sky Conference.

Seven players scored at least six points a game, but none more than ten.

“Offensively, I think that we are doing a really good job sharing the ball, we don’t have a star on this team, we have a group of girls that on any given night can lead us in scoring,” Head Coach Wendy Schuller said.

Despite the success, the Eagles are staying grounded even though they are excited by the start.

“It’s exciting, but we still have nine games left so we can’t put too much pride in ‘oh we’re seven-zero’ because I still think people think ‘we have got to at least beat Eastern on our road trip’ kind of thing,” Forward Nicole Scott said.

“Remember what it feels like to lose because it wasn’t that long ago that we were not sitting in this position, so just keep that feeling in the back of our heads and just working hard,” Evans said.

They hope that attitude will help them continue to win and ensure the best start in the conference play ends with an amazing finish.
