Spokane - Some might say Ryan Nicholas has old school game.
"I'm not really flashy or anything," Ryan Nicholas said. "I just like to win, whatever it takes to win."
So he's not a showboat, but he's a heck of a player. Last year Nicholas was the only junior named to the All-GSL first team.
"He's got a great motor," Bullpup head coach Matty McIntire said. "One of the best motors I have ever seen in a kid, never gives up, he's got a great attitude, and he's always willing to push himself to the limits."
This year the Bullpups will need even more from their senior captain. The defending G-S-L champs lost a bunch of seniors, three of which were All-League.
"He's going to be a huge factor for us and I'm going to rely on him to be a steadying force, especially for our young guys," McIntire said. "There are a lot of them coming into some new roles, and I know Ryan is up to the challenge, the kids look up to him a great deal."
Nicholas added, "This is the season I am looking forward to the most so far. It's going to be a really competitive league, I like the challenge, there isn't one team that's just heads above the others."
The Bullpups though, lie their chances with Ryan leading the team. They will take his substance over style any day.
