Chiefs win 7th straight, beat Tri-City

KENNEWICK -- The Spokane Chiefs simply can't lose right now, and they are making a run to the top of the U.S. Division standings.

For the second time in a week, the Chiefs beat first place Tri-City, this time at their place, 2-1 on Saturday night.

After a scorless first two periods, the Chiefs scored the first two goals of the game in the third period. Brady Brassart got Spokane on the board with his eight goal of the season just 1:43 in.

The Chiefs scored a little more than a minute later when Blake Gal found net for the eight time this season making it 2-0. The Americans scored on the power play with just under two minutes left in the game, breaking up James Reid bid for the shutout. The Chiefs netminder had a great game, stopping 32 of 33 shots.

With the win, the Chiefs are now just five points in back of the Americans for the best record in the U.S. Divison, as well as the Western Conference. Spokane is back on the ice Wednesday night at home against second place Everett.
