Cougars Add JC Receiver to Signing Class

PULLMAN - Washington State head football coach Paul Wulff has announced that junior college wide receiver Isiah Barton has signed a national letter of intent and will enroll at WSU this fall. That brings to 23 the number of student-athletes Wulff has signed for the 2010 class.

Barton, 6'1" and 190 lbs., was named All-Central Valley Conference First Team and played in the State Center Bowl.  The sophomore from Westchester High School in Los Angeles led the Valley Conference in all-purpose yards at 141.8 per game, while also ranking third in receptions (4.8 per game) and third in receiving yards at 71.5 per game.  Barton had 48 catches for 715 yards and seven touchdowns on the season, and averaged 28.4 yards per kickoff return, taking two back for touchdowns.

Barton originally walked on at Fresno State University as a freshman, before landing at Fresno City College.

"I think Isiah is an outstanding football player. He should give us some immediate help. He will give us quickness and speed at the slot and receiver positions as well as maturity. We're very happy he is on board."
