SPOKANE - Tyler Johnson and Jared Spurgeon scored two goals apiece, as the Spokane Chiefs got their revenge on the Kamloops Blazers with a 5-1 win on Friday at the Spokane Arena.
Kamloops handed the Chiefs their most embarrassing loss of the season in an 8-1 decision in late January.
Mitch Wahl and Kyle Beach each had three assists for the Chiefs, who moved within three points of Everett and Portland for second-place in the U.S. Division standings. Johnson and Spurgeon also had an assist each, in addition to their two goals.
Spokane (31-19-3-1) converted 4-of-8 power play opportunities.
Goals from Spurgeon and Jared Cowen gave the Chiefs a 2-0 lead after the first period. After C.J. Stretch scored the Blazers' lone goal in the second period, Johnson tallied twice, less than three minutes apart, to give Spokane a commanding 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
The Chiefs will visit Everett on Saturday.
