SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers has signed with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League.
In only nine regular season games, Geathers collected four sacks and 14.5 total tackles. During the postseason, Geathers led the league in sacks (2.0) and was named the Defensive Player of the Game in Spokane's 69-57 win over Tampa Bay in the ArenaBowl.
"Jeremy seemed to get better and better as the year wore on and he really came on strong in the postseason," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "With his size, speed and strength he is a perfect fit for the CFL. We are proud of Jeremy for earning this opportunity and I'm excited to see what he will be able to do for the Lions."
Geathers will join former Spokane Shock defensive back Stanley Franks (2009) on the Lions' roster.
He is now the fourth player from Spokane's 2010 roster to sign a contract to join an outdoor league. Wide receivers Markee White and Huey Whittaker signed with the UFL last week and offensive lineman Chris Pino joined the CFL in June.
