YAKIMA - The Spokane Indians pounded out 15 hits in a 13-3 blowout of the Yakima Bears Thursday, evening the three-game series, heading into Friday's rubber match.
The Bears (18-10) saw their East Division lead shrink to three games with the loss.
Michael Olt, Brett Nicholas and Santiago Chirino drove in three runs apiece for the Indians (15-13), who won for the first time in five tries this season at Yakima County Stadium.
Bears starting pitcher Andrew Berger struggled from the first pitch, giving up three runs in the first inning and two more in the second, before being pulled after just one and two-thirds innings. Berger walked five and gave up four hits.
The division rivals will wrap up the series at 7:05pm Friday.
