Indians Explode for Eight in Sixth to Rout Ems

SPOKANE - The Indians game plan this season has always been to get through the starting pitcher and then score runs against the bullpens. Monday night was no different, as Spokane exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning and five more in the eighth inning to beat the Emeralds 13-2.

The Indians were held scoreless going into the sixth inning when the Emeralds turned to relief pitcher Alessio Angelucci. Angelucci walked four batters, gave up five hits and allowed five runs to score including one run on a wild pitch to right fielder Ryan Strausborger. Strausborger went 4 for 6, and is 11 of 16 in the series with Eugene.

With an 8-2 lead the Indians scored again in the eighth inning when shortstop Jurickson Profar singled, driving in left fielder Jared Hoying. Three pitchers later, catcher Brett Nicholas drove in four runs on his first career grand slam into The Depot.

Indians starting pitcher Randol Rojas was superb, going five innings and gave up only one run on four hits. He recorded a season high nine strike outs against the Emeralds. Relief pitcher Ryan Rodebaugh benefited from the Indians big sixth inning, picking up his third victory of the season.

The Indians and Emeralds will wrap up their five-game series Tuesday at 6:30pm.
