MOSCOW, Idaho. (AP) -- Former Idaho basketball star Gus Johnson is a member of the newest class of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Johnson played for Idaho in the 1962-63 season, when he averaged 20.3 rebounds per game and led the Vandals to a 20-6 record. His electric play led to packed houses at Idaho's Memorial Gym.
After that one season, he was selected by the Baltimore Bullets in the first round of the 1963 draft and played in the NBA for 11 years. His No. 43 jersey was retired at Idaho in 1987, the same year he died.
